Our Mission

Here at Community Composting we believe in local initiatives to benefit not only individual communities, but the planet as a whole. Carbon emissions released from the breakdown of organic waste in landfill is a major contributor to climate change. We believe that diverting this organic matter to be converted into compost is a simple and effective solution to reduce the impact of human activities on the health and well-being of people and our planet.

What We Do

We collect food scraps that would otherwise go to landfill from homes and businesses in the Kumeu and Huapai region. This organic waste is then transported to our local community garden* which is fully equipped with facilities to transform your common kitchen scraps into nourishing compost. This compost is then reused by the garden to grow local, organic produce which is provided free of charge to members of the community.

* We are currently working on opening our community garden with Auckland Council and the local board. In the mean time, the composting will be done in private facilities .
